Living DNA Results are in...

My Living DNA results are now in. Some very interesting, surprisingly accurate, and some not so accurate results.

I will have a full review up in a couple of days, once one or two of my questions have been cleared by the Living DNA team. I will say now though that I highly recommend taking the test, especially with future developments of the product in the pipeline.

Hi- my cousin took the DNA test and our closest match was a Scott whose family tree goes back to County Tyrone. Our family name is Riddle/Riddell. Did you turn up any Riddles?
Thank You
Kathy

Nice to see a newcomer offering all 3 dna tests. However, they have a long difficult road to get into the dna testing.

The companies I would put last on my choice would be 23andme, they have been repeatedly sued for bad business practices. Their descriptions of their own test are fraudulent and they results use "muck" dna, the lowest level of matches that others do not bother with because of its notorious probability of getting a random match.

Then there is Ancestry, again, poor tools and very limited testing designed to get you to pay them a monthly fee.

However Ancestry do get a lot of testing and its possible that some people will only test at one company and never check their dna elsewhere.

I've been with www.FamilyTreeDNA.com for 20 years, its very good and gets results in especially autosomal dna that the others cannot match.

I have some rare Tasmanian Aboriginal dna, that did not show in Ancestry or 23andme but several samples did correctly show an origin of Australian Aboriginal ... they don't have enough samples to
predict which part of Australia.

My experience has been that the tools at FTDNA out class the competition by far. They are (to my knowledge) the only dna testing company that does NOT sell your dna to medical companies.

If your have your Autosomal dna done then do the free upload of your dna data at FamilyTreeDna and see hundreds of new matches and get to use the Free Tools that save you a lot of time.
